Second stop, Julia Donaldson's Room on the Broom

As Halloween is all around, this story seems to be the perfect occasion to discuss the customs related to this celebration. New vocabulary items are introduced (witch, broom, cauldron) based on already known words about animals.
A very interesting introductory activity the pupils enjoyed was to find and match the two separate halves of pictures related to the story. What they needed to say first in order to find the other half was:
" It is spooky, it is scary it is halloween night. Who are you?"

After they discovered all the pictures, they put the story into a sequence. The repetition of certain sentences aroused their excitement and made the whole game even more fun.

Moreover, they prepared the witch's potion in the cauldron

Additionally, they played a little theatrical play: In a dark dark...
Finally, as a little gift, little broomsticks/pencils were given to the pupils.

In the end, they made their own first book inspired by the story of the witch on the broomstick.
