Carnival Crime The story is taken from The British Council's webpage . In the spirit of the current carnival period, we saw an interesting ppt presentation, and then we discussed different festive customs around the world, the great Floats, the masquteers and the Samba Street Parade in Rio de Janeiro. Then, we unfolded this crime story in a captivating way. The kids got really involved in trying to guess what the thieves were and what happened next. They also tried to imagine what the costumes looked like, how the masquteers reacted and, finally, they managed to solve the mystery.

Pupils were shown a number of flashcards with different materials, such as wood, clay, iron, steel, brick, etc. used in the construction of the bridge. They also played the game  and, of course, sang the song . They had a lot of fun creating a puzzle showing different landmarks in London.

The kids were then divided into groups and tried to act out scenes from the book, using theur own words. Finally, on the next stage the kids made an attempt to retell the story using an online platform, namely, toonytool . The pupils really enjoyed trying to create the setting the characters, the action and the words , thus creating different scenes, which were connected in order to create a simple but coherent storyline.

The Smartest Giant in Town  by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler A marvelous story of George, a giant who decides to get rid of his old clothes and buy some smart ones from the local store. When he meets some friends who need his help, he generously offers, with no hesitation,  his new clothes and, in the end, he is the one who has nothing anymore. Still, he does not complain but starts all over again, to finally receive a special gift from his friends... The pupils listened to the story with excitement and great interest. We discussed, apart from the different cloth items, the general meaning of the story and what the giant gained at the end. We also made a nice flip book on the characters and the clothes of the story. the flip book You can also see a pupil's presentation here
